World Book Day
This year the children have celebrated World Book Day by participating a range of activities based around the story 'Here we are' by Oliver Jeffers. These activities including creating paper sculptures of sea life, writing poems about our beautiful world and writing instructions exploring how to be kind in our school. Teachers and children dressed up, linking their costumes to themes explored in the story. We have also held a number of competitions in school, including an extreme reading challenge which involved reading books in adventurous places. Our Year 5 children also took part in the World Book Day competition which was run by the MP Paul Waugh and we were so delighted that two of our children were winners of the competition, with one of them being the overall winner. Her work was read in the Houses of Parliament and Mr Waugh visited the school to meet the two children. It was a very exciting week which everyone enjoyed.
