School Council
Welcome to our school council members
We are pleased to announce this year's school councillors. Each child presented the reasons why they felt they would make a good school councillor and were voted in by the members of their class. The school council meets on a regular basis to discuss matters that have arisen and are important to the children.

Our Projects The school council is involved in a number of projects each year. Here are the few of the most recent: Policy writing We have been involved in updating the Anti-Bullying and Healthy Eating Policies. Raising Money We organised a MacMillan morning earlier this term and invited the community to have tea and cakes with us. Thank you for the huge support and the help in raising money for this charity. Previously, we have been involved in raising money for Breast Cancer Support, The Honey Bee Charity and Springhill Hospice. The school and its community raised approximately £1500 for the three charities. World Mental Health Day On 10th October, we organised a Mental Health day in school to raise awareness and to help the children develop strategies and routines to help them keep a health mind. Kindness Award The school council launched the Kindness Award. Children were asked to nominate children in school who had show random acts of kindness and who were an inspiration to others. Sponsored Read To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, our School Council organised a sponsored read In March. This was organised in conjunction with our Usborne Partner Ally Bennett and all the money raised went towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne also donated a further selection of free books. The children have loved exploring and read these fabulous books and we thank everyone for their support. Children's Champion for Rochdale Harry, one of our Year 5 school council members was elected Children's Champion for Rochdale earlier this year. The school is very proud of his achievements and we look forward to following his progress as he represents the young children of Rochdale. He will be working hard to ensure that the voices of Rochdale's children are heard and will be helping to improve the lives of children in Rochdale.
Awards The school council has also won a number of awards. Gold Award Our school council was very proud to achieve the GOLD School Council status. Healthy School Status The school was awarded the Healthy School Status in May 2004. The school has maintained this award and works closely with the LA to achieve the national standards around Healthy Eating, Physical Education, Emotional Health and Wellbeing. |
